About

Vera Hylands —
mural artist, Belfast

Vera Hylands began painting murals in Sri Lanka, where she found her voice working on interior walls of homes and small spaces — translucent, dreamy layers built up by hand. Botanical scenes, forests, the soft worlds of fairytale. Each one was painted intuitively: a conversation with the client about theme and colour, then the rest left to feel.

Belfast restart

A new chapter in Northern Ireland.

Life eventually moved Vera to Belfast. She's now restarting her practice in Northern Ireland — with more experience, a more confident hand, and the same painterly, hand-finished style. Working across Belfast, Lisburn, Bangor, Newtownards and beyond, she takes a handful of commissions a month — nurseries, family homes, schools, and characterful commercial interiors.

How Vera works

No two Vera murals are alike.

Every mural starts with a conversation. The client picks the theme and a rough colour palette; Vera handles the rest. There's no rendered preview before painting begins — that's the point. The artwork emerges intuitively on the wall, painted in translucent layers.

She paints on smooth, pre-painted interior walls only — white or beige base. If your wall needs plastering or prep first, she can recommend someone to handle it before she arrives.
