Commissions

Commission a painting.

Bespoke nature-inspired original paintings in Vera Hylands' signature painterly style. For homes, hallways, and characterful commercial interiors — anywhere a one-of-a-kind piece of art belongs.

You bring the theme and a rough colour palette. Vera handles the rest — painted intuitively in her studio, on canvas, ready to live with.

What's possible

A few of the briefs Vera loves.

  • Statement paintings for homes

A large feature canvas for a living room, hallway, or above a bed — botanical, magical, or pond-and-meadow themes.

  • Smaller pieces

Coordinated studies, paired pieces for a wall, or a smaller original sized to a specific nook.

  • Characterful commercial spaces

Cafés, restaurants, hotels and independent shops where a one-of-a-kind painting matches the room’s personality.

  • Custom signature-style work

You bring a theme and a rough palette; Vera paints it intuitively in her translucent, dreamy style.

How it works

From brief to finished painting.

  1. 01

    Send a brief

A short message describing the theme, a rough colour palette, the size you have in mind, and where the painting will live. A photo of the room helps but isn’t essential.

  2. 02

    Quote & direction

Vera replies with a written quote and a feel for the direction. She won’t send a rendered preview — paintings emerge intuitively on the canvas, that’s the point.

  3. 03

    Painted in studio

Once you’re happy with the quote, Vera paints the piece in her Belfast studio over a few weeks. Painted in soft, translucent layers of acrylic on canvas.

  4. 04

    Finished & delivered

You receive the signed, unframed painting, ready to hang. Framing and shipping outside NI can be arranged.

Common questions

Cost, process & style.

How much does it cost to commission a painting from Vera?

Painting commissions are priced per piece, starting from around £250. The final price depends on the size of the canvas, level of detail, and the surface. Send a short brief — Vera replies with a written quote within a week.

How does the painting commission process work?

Send a brief (theme, palette, size, where it will hang). Vera replies with a quote and a feel for the direction. There's no rendered preview before the painting begins — paintings emerge intuitively, that's the point. Once finished, the signed, unframed canvas is delivered or shipped.

What style does Vera paint in?

Translucent, dreamy, painterly. Soft layers of acrylic — not photorealistic, not cartoon. Recurring themes: water lilies and ponds, foxgloves and meadows, woodland scenes, magical-fairytale palettes. Vera doesn't paint logos, brand artwork, or anything corporate — but a botanical or magical piece for a café, hotel, or family home is exactly the kind of brief she loves.

Can I commission a painting for a business?

Yes — for any subject that fits Vera's nature-inspired painterly style. Cafés, restaurants, hotels and independent shops have all commissioned pieces. The only thing Vera doesn't paint is logos, brand artwork, or corporate graphics.
